Thing 4: BigHugeLabs & Goodreads

BigHugeLabs

Ok so this week I went on to design a magazine cover through BigHugeLabs!  It was fun but I felt that it was quite limited on the creative side with the magazine image generator.  I'd really like to explore some more on this site and create a few more different things.  So stay tuned for some more items yet to pop up on this blog!!

Goodreads

Now this website I really liked and found very handy.  I'm always struggling to find something to read as I lie around, so having a resource like goodreads to help and keep you going is such a great idea!  I love rating books that I have read and browsing through to create a selection of titles I'd like to read later on... FANTASTIC!!

PS- It's so quick & easy to create an account too!

Thing 3 - E-Books & E-Audio

So another thing I've come across this week is that I can listen to a book being read to me as I swing away in my comfy hammock. These are called E-Audio books. What an absolutely wonderful idea!

I tried a couple of sources for E-Audio: Bolinda & ClipperEBSCOhost. Both have a pretty decent collection to choose from but I found that Bolinda was a lot easier to use. There was no fuss of creating an account or installing a download manager software to be able to use it.  This is where I got stuck with Clipper.... I was unable to install the download manager due to restrictions on this computer.

Personally I prefer the feel of a book in between my fingers. It feels the most relaxing when your away from technology with the sound of waves lapping around you as you get lost in a book.  Although I can appreciate the popularity of  E-Audio & E-Books for that matter, especially when one is travelling.

So go ahead, give it a go and have someone else do the reading for you for a change ;-)

Thing 2 - Twitter & RSS

"Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo"

So as I swing away in the Bahamas I've managed to become a twit.... oops I meant a Twitterer. Pretty easy I reckon but not exactly sure why it's so popular to be honest. I guess it's cos we get to see so much of what is happening directly with people of interest, especially with our obsession of those in the celebrity realm. As for RSS it's a pretty handy tool to use. From the comfort of my hammock I can get updated on loads of handy (and not so handy) information including news, entertainment, sport, blogs, technology..... and the list goes on and on!!!

Check out my latest view coming to you from the exotic Bahamas.....

Thing 1 - ALOHA!!!!

So here we are back in the world of Web 2.0 with a refresher this time around. As I lay here swinging away under the beautiful palms of Maui, i'm looking forward to seeing what's new out there in the land of technology and being a bit creative along the way. At the same time I plan to show you many views of the world from the amazing comfort of a hammock.

So sit back, relax, enjoy a cocktail (or 2) and get ready for some well earned Lazy Bum time. Ahhhhh such is life when one is lying around with a magnificent view!
